IISRI’s multi-million-dollar facility is the first university facility to be equipped to handle zone 4 classified, secret-rated defence research. It is also home to the Motion Simulation Lab, which accommodates various mobile and industrial robots and the next generation, haptically enabled Universal Motion Simulator (UMS) that can replicate high-fidelity manoeuvres for land, air and sea vehicles. 

The facility also houses IISRI’s CYCLONE High-G Centrifuge System –– an Australian-first, simulator-based acceleration tool capable of G-tolerance training. The system evaluates psycho-physiological effects on astronauts and pilots under varying gravitational conditions to mitigate the threat of G-LOC (G-induced loss of consciousness).
