Human Monitoring System (HUMS)

Modular, intuitive, flexible and easy to use, IISRI’s HUman Monitoring System (HUMS) is an advanced, all-in-one-platform, physiological, physical, and psychological monitoring system.

Analysing human performance in the lab or offsite often involves observing a multitude of human physiological, psychological and motion aspects. This process can require many devices and complex methods to simultaneously gather and synchronise data. When done this way experiments can be cumbersome and can restrict research activities.

However, IISRI’s HUMs software-hardware integrated system can collect and stream data from a variety of sensors on just one device to deliver real-time advanced human performance monitoring and analysis.

It is fully customisable and lets our researchers enable or disable sensors as required and allows any data processing techniques to be integrated into its analysis component. Its advanced signal processing is equipped with the latest artificial intelligence techniques that make it possible to easily apply complex sense-making functions.

It is also easy to use, thanks to HUMS’ unique on-board signal processing capabilities and data analysis module, which use machine learning techniques – including deep learning, reinforcement learning and imitation learning configurations – to process collected data and provide users with simple step functions to render complex functions.

Our researchers have tested HUMS in a range of fields, including medicine and health, aviation, defence, education, academic, physical exercise, and emergency services.

What human performance factors can HUMS capture?

HUMS can conduct real-time assessments of:

  • Eye tracking: monitoring attention and focus points of multiple subjects
  • Motion capture: posture, movement and ergonomics capture of subjects
  • Respiration rate: breathing rate capturing physiological load
  • Electroencephalography (EEG): light weight EEG monitoring capturing cognitive load
  • Electromyography (EMG): surface EMG capturing muscular load on subject
  • electrocardiogram (ECG): heart rate monitoring capturing physiological load on subject

AT A GLANCE

IISRI’s HUMs software-hardware integrated system can collect and stream data from a variety of sensors on just one device to deliver real-time advanced human performance monitoring and analysis.

Impact: Allows easier, efficient monitoring and analysis of human performance without a multitude of devices and complex methods to simultaneously gather and synchronise data.
