Deakin University has been selected to host the 33rd International Conference on Neural Information Processing (ICONIP 2026), a prestigious global event that attracts more than 1000 researchers in brain-inspired computing from across the world.  

The conference will take place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on the 23-27 November 2026, marking a significant milestone for Australia’s growing influence in artificial intelligence and cognitive systems research. 

The successful bid was led by Deakin Institute for Intelligent Systems’ Professor Asim Bhatti, who will be chair of the event and will be supported by a grant secured through the Melbourne Convention Bureau. 

ICONIP 2026 presents a landmark opportunity to bring together global leaders in neural information processing and intelligent cognitive systems, Prof Bhatti said.
